Weight gains follow marriage
What is it about wedded bliss that turns some of us into wedded blimbs? According to the journal Obesity getting hitched is a surefire way to pack on the pounds. Researchers charted 11,000 individuals transitioning from being single to married or cohabitating status and found the transition doubled a person's risk of becoming obese. Just what is it about a stable, long-term romantic relationship that seems to make us fatter? The main factor appeared to be a marked decline in the desire to maintain body weight or general appearance for the purpose of attracting a mate. Of course, I can't, in good conscience, support that outlook - you ought to keep yourself in fine physical condition whether you have a ring on your finger or not.
